Marketers who use six or more of the eight strategies tracked in Orbit Media’s 2026 Blogging Statistics survey report “strong results” 39% of the time, versus just 4% for marketers using zero or one. That’s a 9x gap between the bottom and top tiers, and it comes from stacking tactics rather than finding one silver bullet.
What it means
Orbit Media tracks eight specific strategies known to correlate with blog performance: original research, formal human editing, keyword research, paid promotion, and influencer collaboration among them. The relationship between how many a marketer uses and how often they report strong results is close to linear and steep. 0-1 strategies gets 4% strong results, 2-3 gets 9%, 4-5 gets 18%, and 6+ gets 39%.
The strategy-count effect gets even stronger when you factor in effort. Marketers combining 4+ strategies with 6+ hours of writing time per post hit a 31% strong-results rate on that subset alone, more than double the overall average. Strategy and effort compound each other rather than substituting for one another.
One detail undercuts the idea that there’s a shortcut here: zero respondents in the entire 1,042-person survey used all eight recommended strategies. Nobody is doing everything, and the marketers getting the best results are simply doing more of what’s already known to work than everyone else.
Why it matters for B2B marketers
If your team runs one or two blog tactics well and results are flat, the fix is probably adding tactics you’ve skipped. A team stuck at 2-3 strategies has a clearer, more mechanical path to better numbers (add original research, add a formal edit pass, add paid promotion) than a team searching for one tactic to perfect.
